September Glymm Box

My September Glymm Box is here! This time, my makeup bag is a textured off-white. I know that Glymm is cutting back on packaging but this makeup bag every month is a little much. I don't have use of so many little makeup bags, even if they're eco-friendly. What am I supposed to do with them all? I appreciate the need for eco-friendly packaging but perhaps Glymm could mix up their eco-friendly packaging a little?

Here is what I got in my August Glymm box. This month the makeup bag was a shiny black, textured bag which compared to the previous few months is very much my style.

June Glymm Box

My June Glymm Box! Glymm is a subscription service for deluxe samples that arrive at my door each month. Recently. Glymm cut way back on the packaging - getting rid of the pink box for a pouch - and this month they went further. Instead of a card giving information about the sample, there's a small card directing me to go to a URL to find out details about the goodies inside.

Here's what was inside.

La Fresh Eco-Beauty Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover ($9.99/18 pads): remove your polish in the most eco-friendly way possible. It does no harm to you or the planet, and it smells so delicious. 

Remove polish and condition all 10 nails with just one pad. This acetone-free nail polish remover is packed with aloe, glycerin and vitamin E to moisturize and natural Rosemary Horsetail Extract to keep your nails strong. As the smell of natural Tuscan orange fills the air, you'll be elated to know that this product is free of harmful chemicals and uses the least amount of water possible - also, no need to rinse. 

Review: I had time to try these and was skeptical how well they would work. I was surprised by the scent, first off - fresh orange, not sharp acetone. The instructions say that to hold the pad over the nail and then gently massage the polish off. By the time I got to the fourth nail, I knew that it was not going to make it to the fifth nail let alone the tenth. I had to open the second packet. Turns out that the first pad was dried out a little. The second pad was much more moist and was much easier to use. It would have taken the polish off all ten of my nails.

Overall I was impressed with how these pads worked, well the one that was fully moistened. They're much more expensive than the drugstore brand nail polish remover I normally use though. 

Clark's Botanicals Smoothing Marine Cream (50 mL/$115 CDN): This exfoliating and moisturizing cream will leave your skin feeling smooth as can be. 

This luxurious face cream gently exfoliates and leaves the skin intensely moisturized. Glycolic Acid and Algae Extracts soften the appearance of fine lines, while Jasmine Absolute helps soothe and nourish stressed-out skin. The Glycolic Acid will tingle gently as it exfoliates and boosts your skin's natural collagen production. Apply evenly to entire face once or twice a day. Follow with sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher). Never apply this product to red or peeling skin.

Clark's Botanicals donates a portion of sales to The Christopher Reeve Foundation. 

Review: If I could spend $115 on a moisturizer, this would be it. It just feels INCREDIBLE on and my skin feels amazing using it. I will be very sad when I'm finished my sample.

This scent has a fruity-floral-woody composition. Flowers symbolize a gentle femininity, fruits denote joy and a sparking energy while the woody notes represent sensuality and deep emotions. The heart features pink floral accords of rose, magnolia and hyacinth, while white cedar, amber and mush linger in the background.

 

Vitamine & Sea Perfect Skin Solution (45 mL/$68): This miracle serum is 100% natural blend of vitamin E and essential oils. It will leave your skin flawless.

March Glymm Box

Here is what was inside my March Glymm box. I was disappointed with my Glymm box this month, mainly because most of the items inside I will not or cannot use. Let's take a look.

In my March Glymm box I received a bottle of Ocean nail polish, two samples from M.Asam and some NuMe feather hair accessories.

These are cool, but I'm not sure they're me. I do know they're too long for my hair. I've checked the website and there's no mention of being able to trim them. I might wear some of these if they were about half the length that they currently are. It is a full-size product though, not just a sample, so there's that going for it.

M.Asam Perfect Teint and M.Asam Magic Fini

The Perfect Teint sample is the one item I received that I can and will use. It's a primer, that mattifies, smoothes and evens out my skin tones. I wish it weren't quite so matte, but otherwise, I like the effect it has on my skin.


The Magic Fini is too dark for my skintone, so I gave this to a friend whose skintone it matches.

Ocean Nail Polish

Ocean Nail Polish: A true trend-topper, Ocean Nail Polish Spring 2012 collection boasts shades that are vibrant, pastel and intense. This luscious lacquer applies super smoothly and streak free, and is fast-drying without containing any toxins. It's sold in upscale salons around the USA and Europe.

Oddly I cannot find anything online about Ocean nail polish. I love nail polish and I'd love to wear this, but it's not a colour I'd ever wear. What's the point of wearing nail polish if it looks like you aren't wearing anything, I say! I'll give this to a friend who likes these nude shades. It's not for me.

So there you have it. I think this was the most disappointing monthly box I've received yet. And where are the jelly beans, Glymm? It's been a few months since you gave us some of those!
