#MACMALEFICENT

Mysterious, magnificent and much misunderstood – Disney’s most iconic villain, brought to life this summer in the epic new film, “Maleficent,” inspires a limited-edition M∙A∙C colour collection in specially designed packaging to delight the most demanding of dark sorceresses. Intensely admired for her evil elegance, despite her efforts to instill fear in the hearts of generations, this icon casts a spell of absolute adoration with sensuous shades for eyes, face, lips and nails so wickedly gorgeous, who needs beauty sleep?

“Maleficent,” the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from “Sleeping Beauty,” reveals the events that hardened Maleficent’s heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora. The film stars Angelina Jolie and opens in theaters this summer.

Beauty Squared Round-Up - May 12, 2013

Weekly beauty link round-up time! Let's do this.

  • The Sephora and Pantone collaborations continue. They've just launched an electronic system that can accurately match your skintone to one of the 110 shades in the Pantone SkinTone Library, which can then be used to match one of the foundations Sephora carries.
  • Is Arbonne really as pure and natural as you think?
  • The annual Met Ball happened last week. This year's theme was punk. While I have to argue that none of the outfits worn by the models and celebrities on the red carpet were at all punk, it was quite the display and Buzzfeed has a round-up of some of the night's best beauty looks.
  • Oh look, Disney's gone and "fixed" something that wasn't broken at all. Merida, the refreshingly non-typical-princess heroine of the Disney movie Brave, has been given a makeover, for some bizarro reason. Boooooo, Disney, boooooo.
  • Some tips for posing for photos from three photogenic ladies. Trust me, you'll want to read this.
  • Attention make-up artists in the GTA! MUA Lucky Bromhead is teaching a class on Macro Beauty at Blur Makeup Room in Toronto. The event details are here

The Disney characters have evidently been dieting intensively and had body modifiying surgery to fit into designer clothes. This is a Barneys/Disney collaboration that has a number of people angered. MAC Venomous Villains Preview

Tomorrow! It's finally here tomorrow! MAC's much-anticipated Venomous Villains collection hits North American stores on Thursday, September 30th.

Here's what MAC has to say about its collaboration with Disney:

"A potion to poison, an apple to bite, a spell to cast…bad never looked so good.

A crystal ball of colour created from your favourite Disney Venomous Villains, inspired by the three most infamously frosty, fabulous and formidable of Disney’s Dark Ladies…and one dastardly Dr. Facilier. Don’t you love it? A M∙A∙C and Disney collaboration to celebrate the dark side in every one of us, in a glamorous sort of way.

Who’s the fairest one of all? Four separate mini-collections, in haute animated couture. The incomparable Cruella de Vil and Snow White’s Evil Queen   each featured on one ultra primary displayer  Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent and The Princess and the Frog’s Dr. Facilier are both up to no good on their own. Uniquely designed iconic packaging you will kill for, cunning characters and bedeviled beauties that are so alluring, you can’t help but wonder: what would it be like to be one?"

I can't wait!

Thoughts:
  • I like that they included a male villain, but I'm guessing Dr Falicier was included mainly because of The Princess and the Frog being Disney's latest release. There are a few other villains I would've included in his place - The Little Mermaid's Ursula or the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, for example.
  • I love the inclusion of the Brow Marker in the Evil Queen's collection. Look at those incredible brows!
  • It's a good release in terms of the range of products and colours. There's something for everyone here.

So what's catching your eye? I know Jill has already placed her order for a bunch of stuff! Myself, I'm eying the Beauty Powders, the Liquid Powder (!!), those amazing Maleficent nail lacquers, the Evil Queen's Toxic Tale lipstick, the Maleficent Mineralize Eyeshadow Duos and Cruella's Heartless lipstick.

Who's your villain alter ego?

C.
