MAC's Archie's Girls Pearlmatte Face Powders Review, Swatches and Photos

One of the most highly anticipated products from MAC's Archie's Girls collection are the Pearlmatte powders. Housed in a white compact, this latest incarnation of the Pearlmatte powders mix a base of Beauty Powder and hearts of blusher. All photos in natural light on NC 35 skin (LE, $35.00 CA/$30.00 US).

MAC's Archie's Girls Pearlmatte Face Powders: Flatter Me and Veronica's Blush

Flatter Me: base, heart and combined colors.

Veronica's Blush: base, heart and combined colors.

Flatter Me - A combination of Shell Pearl Beauty Powder (base) and Foolish Me blush (hearts). A fairly light, soft pinky peach. On lighter skin tones this would be a lovely coral shimmery blush, but on medium to dark skin tones I see it working more as a peach tinted highlighter. Predominantly warm but wearable for all skin tones. Good pigmentation and buildable color.

Veronica's Blush - A combination of Play it Proper Beauty Powder (base) and Frankly Scarlet blush (hearts). The base shimmer of this powder is a starker and whiter, and will therefore stand out more on the skin than Flatter Me. Cool toned and more dramatic, this powder may look ashy on darker skin tones. Good pigmentation and buildable color.

The Pearlmatte formula gives a nice glow to the skin without looking too frosty or unnatural. Flatter Me is a good choice for all skin tones, while Veronica's Blush suits cooler skin tones a little more, but would still be wearable for warm skin tones. This product is an easy pick-me-up for the complexion and is buildable for more/less color and shine .

MAC Archie's Girls Lipglass Review, Swatches and Photos

The other half of the lip products hauled recently from MAC's Archie's Girls collection are the Betty and Veronica lipglasses which coordinate with the lipsticks. Product photos with flash, swatches on NC 35 skin in natural light. All products are LE ($20.00 CA/$16.50 US).

MAC Archie's Girls: Stay Sweet, Kiss and Don't Tell, Mall Madness,
Strawberry Malt and Feelin' So Good

Stay Sweet (Creme) - A semi sheer milky pink. Probably the most often seen "repeat" colour from MAC, a good partner for the lipstick, though I think the lipstick is better.

Kiss and Don't Tell (Creme) - An opaque bright coral. So pretty and a perfect match for the lipstick.

Mall Madness (shimmer) - A mauvey pink with very subtle fine gold shimmer, a much more subdued color in comparison to the lipstick.

Strawberry Malt (Creme) - A semi opaque, jelly finish cherry red gloss, perfect for layering with the lipstick but very nice on it's own too.

Feelin' So Good (Creme) - A blackened burgundy. Very vampy!

Like the lipsticks, there's a good, but not unique range of colours in this collection. Kiss and Don't tell is perfect for spring and summer, and Strawberry Malt is the type of colour you could wear year round sheered out for a more amped up natural lip or with a red lipstick or gloss for serious glamour. I find Feelin' So Good an interesting inclusion because it has a very  black base, which give it an edgy feel.

Grades: A (Kiss and Don't Tell and Strawberry Malt), B (Mall Madness and Feelin' So Good), B- (Stay Sweet)

MAC Archie's Girls Lipstick Review, Swatches and Photos

MAC's uber hyped up collaborations with animated characters continues with the latest MAC's Archie's Girls.   I was lucky enough to catch this collection early online and today I have a few of the lipsticks. Product photos with flash, swatches in natural light, NC 35 skin. All products are LE and many are already sold out online ($20.00 CA/$16.50 US), but will be available in store and on counter starting tomorrow.

MAC's Archie's Girls: Girl Next Door, Betty Bright, Daddy's Little Girl and Ronnie Red

Girl Next Door (Lustre) - A sheer pale pink with a smidgen of silver shimmer. Not unique but a good color for people with pigmented lips who have a hard time wearing opaque pale pinks.

Betty Bright (Satin) - A bright, almost neon coral with very good pigmentation. Opaque after two passes on my medium skin, but probably opaque after one on lighter skin tones. This color looks brighter in real life than in the photo.

Daddy's Little Girl (Satin) - A bright medium toned pinky violet that is brighter on the skin than in the tube. Excellent pigmentation, opaque in one pass.

Ronnie Red (Matte) - A beautiful blue red with excellent pigmentation and a nice creamy texture. Opaque and saturated after one pass.

I think the selection of shades in this collection are good, albeit not entirely original. Betty Bright and Daddy's Little Girl hit on the current bright trend for lips and Ronnie Red offers up some classic color. MAC also included Girl Next Door and Oh, Oh, Oh (not reviewed) for the less adventurous. I didn't purchase Oh, Oh, Oh as I own it from a previous collection, bit it is a very flattering MLBB color and is effortless to wear.

Grade: A (Betty Bright, Daddy's Little Girl, Ronnie Red), B (Girl Next Door)

MAC's Archie's Girls launches in stores and on counters tomorrow, February 7th! Let us know what you haul!
