- Cushion make-up - you may have come across this term recently. It's a new trend in western makeup taken from (where else?) Korean beauty brands. Basically, cushioning is in the packaging where pillowy sponges are soaked in product (blush, foundation, etc) allowing for light and smooth application. Kind of how you use a sponge to apply a product but the sponge is built into the makeup in the case of cushion make-up. Read more and see some of the products now available in North America here.
- Another Korean beauty trend is waterless skincare.
- The best toners for sensitive skin.
- Some ideas for taking care of your skin naturally. As in, more about what you put into your body, rather than what you apply on the surface (though that's important too).
- This is verging on a "how to attract a man" article, but not quite (we wouldn't share it if that's all it was, promise). Does wearing a strong lip colour actually turn men off as some men claim? An experiment.
- Speaking of makeup shaming, women have been posting selfies of themselves with faces of half-bare/half-makeup to show they're comfortable both in and out of makeup. (So stop with the hating on women who wear makeup!)
- To celebrate Pride here's an interview with transgender model (and the face of Make Up For Ever) Andreja Pejic where she talks about beauty.

- Nylon claims that actor Margot Robbie's got her eye makeup matching her earrings. I don't see it myself, though both her earrings and her makeup are fantastic. Nylon does tell you how to achieve the look though, so that's worth it!

- Artist Anna Hill has created a series of fake ads by using commonly used image editing tools to alter photos of herself in order to critique the overuse of Photoshop in today's mainstream advertising.
- Jenna Talackova is best known as the Miss Universe contestant who was disqualified when it came to light that she had been born a male even though she's had gender reassignment surgery and has identified as a female since she was 19. Elle Canada has a feature on the actor and model.

This post could end right there, but that wouldn't be fair to you, would it? OK, I'll tell you why.
Soap & Glory is an English brand whose products I first spotted at Shoppers Drug Mart. They carry a line of body products with delightful packaging and cheeky branding, using retro imagery and playful messaging. It's reminiscent of, but more focused branding than Benefit Cosmetics.
I've tried a number of their products, and I'm a big fan of their Sexy Mother Pucker plumping lip gloss, their Clean On Me Shower Gel and their Righteous Butter body butter. But by far my favourite is their
Flake Away Body Polish.
I love exfoliators. I have dry skin on my body and oily skin that breaks out. I get ingrown hairs and itchiness. Exfoliating helps keep my skin as normal as possible. But I also don't always moisturize as I should. My skin would be so much happier. And as we all know, exfoliating means you need to moisturize afterwards. So as much as I love exfoliators, I don't like the dryness it can leave behind.
Flake Away was recommended to me by my friend Stephanie so I tried it. It's got the Original Pink fragrance that's familiar to any Soap & Glory fans. And it feels luxurious and silky, like you're applying moisturizer. You apply it to your skin in the shower, and scrub away. Compared to all other shower scrubs I've used, Flake Away does not rinse off. You actually have to use your hands to rinse it off. And it's incredibly moisturizing properties leave your skin feeling smooth and soft afterwards, like you've applied a lotion. So really, Flake Away is a 2-in-1 product. It solves my problem!
I can't say enough about how gorgeous my skin feels after using Flake Away. There is no need for additional moisturizing after my shower or bath and it lasts all day.
